Mark's Prayer

This is a prayer that was given to me by Robert, a ninety one year old man I met on a trip to Atlantic City New Jersey.  Since we both could not make the long trek down the boardwalk with the rest of the group we sat on a bench and talked.  One of the many questions I asked him was his secret to a long, healthy and happy life and he answered by giving me his prayer.  His prayer was given to him by his mother and he recites it every day upon rising from bed and during the day whenever he feels the need.  I found it beautiful and inspiring so I’ve taken it and made some small changes to fit me so it is now my prayer as well.  Please feel free to do the same.

God is my help in every need

God does my very hunger feed

God walks beside me and guides my way

Through every moment of the day

I now am wise, I now am true

Patient, kind and loving too

God is my health, I can’t be sick

God is my strength unfailing quick

All things I do through Christ my Lord

He is the Truth in me and my life restored

God is my all I do not know fear

Since God and love and truth are here
